In the autumn of 2005 a plan was hatched to stage a one off steam and vintage rally at Morton. The team set about organising something very different within the village, which was also a passion for them, Steam!
Morton? I hear you cry. Well, its a village steeped in the traditions of local agriculture and handily placed right alongside the A15, in the beautiful south western corner of Lincolnshire and also, amazingly enough, the home of most of the team.
The team at first thought they were organising a small event but circumstances took over and eventually the Morton Steam and Vintage Weekend turned into a very large reality.
The event planned to combine Steam, both full size and miniatures, with vintage tractors, commercials, cars and trade stands. Several local events were visited and arms twisted for people with vintage machinery of all kinds to take a chance on a new event in a previously unused venue.
The entry lists were gathered and the venue was re-measured to see if all the promised exhibitors would fit, after some head scratching the organisers were sure that they could squeeze in everyone even.....
...... and still have a small space left for last minute arrivals.
