Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance Cheque PresentationMonday, 4th August 2008

Today at the Five Bells at Morton a cheque was officially handed to the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance by Brian. This cheque for £860 was from the proceeds of the Steam Weekend. When the money taken by the air ambulance stall and collection tins were added then the total figure raised due to the steam fair was nearer £1200.
Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance Logo The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance is a dedicated medical air service which first began operations in Lincolnshire in April 1994.

Based at RAF Waddington, south of Lincoln, and unaffected by road congestion, country roads, heavy vehicles or road works the Helicopter can reach any destination in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire in 19 minutes.

In England and Wales there are sixteen dedicated Air Ambulance operations flying a total of 22 helicopters and all are reliant upon charitable support. An Air Ambulance provides an important and sometimes vital additional patient care service for our most critically ill and injured patients.

Rain CloudsA wet start for 2008!

Right what do we say about this years show. It started off the way that 2007 ended.... more rain. The Saturday was a complete wash out with constant rain from morning till night, at least our extended marquee area kept the models and local photography exhibits dry. We had a few visitors but the weather was so bad that some of the exhibitors stayed away also (can't say as I blame them). Saturday evening saw entertainment for the exhibitors and volunteers in the form of Grumpy Old Men who rocked the night away until the weather reduced their audience to a handful of hardy individuals.

Anyway Sunday dawned with bright skies and a wide variety of exhibitors turning out. After a few hours the show site was full with steam, cars, tractors, stationary engines, motorbikes and commercials not to mention the trade areas which were larger than previous years.

In addition to the miniature steam, we also saw tractors, cars and motorbikes take to the main arena for a parade and a chat with our volunteer commentators. Thanks to Richard and Alan people were well informed about our miniature steam, classic cars and motorbikes.

On the whole the weekend appears to have been another success with good feedback from exhibitors and visitors alike. Details for the money raised for the air ambulance will be added in due course.

Please have a look at our 2008 photos.
